Fresh Leaf Indigo Dyeing Techniques
It took a little while for our Indigo plants to get started with the cold and wet spring we had this year, but the indigo in the Studio’s garden is thriving now! Come help Main Street Studio’s resident fiber artist, Renee Johnson, harvest leaves from this species of Persicaria, commonly known as “Japanese Indigo”, and learn techniques for extracting its pigment and dyeing different types of fabrics with the plant’s fresh leaves. In this class, you will learn lots of creative techniques for using this easy to grow natural dyeing resource and get to take home your own, unique 8” x 54” blue-green silk scarf and a 28” x 28” cotton bandana. Renee will have lots of design inspirations and plenty of fabric to practice and experiment with. WhenMonday, September 156:00pm – 8:00pm WhereMain Street Studio786 Charlton, Rd.
