The Princess Louisa, a British merchant vessel carrying 20 chests of Spanish silver coins for trade, sank off the Cape Verde Islands in April 1743 after hitting a reef. A significant Spanish Colonial treasure was recovered from the wreck in 1998-1999, leading to the creation of the "Salvor's Reserve Hoard," which contains some of the best coins set aside by the chief salvor during the recovery process.
