Insulin (Fasting Insulin)

Diagnostic Blood Test: Insulin Insulin is a hormone that controls levels of sugar in the blood and encourages cells to absorb this sugar to use as fuel. Elevated levels of insulin may be a sign of insulin resistance — a precursor to type 2 diabetes.Important: Patient should be fasting at time of collection.Note: This test may exhibit interference when sample is collected from a person who is consuming a supplement with a high dose of biotin. Cease biotin supplementation at least 72 hours prior to blood draw.
