Poke — Phytolacca americana — is one of the most recognized plants in Southern folk medicine. It grows wild across Alabama and the Southeast, and generations of Southerners have used it as a traditional remedy for joint pain, inflammation, and immune support. Our poke berries are picked by hand from wild plants on our land in Opp, Alabama, then slow dried to preserve their natural compounds. Each package contains 60 dried berries — typically a one month supply for those using them daily. Traditional Use Dried poke berries have been used in Southern Appalachian and folk herbal traditions primarily for arthritis and joint inflammation. The traditional method is to swallow the berries whole — not chewed — one per day, working up slowly.
