"Angelica's Dream" Canvas

We know that she is beautiful, cunning, gifted with magical arts, and a lover of freedom above all else. She is princess Angelica, legendary character present in the medieval chivalric romances Orlando in Love and The Frenzy of Orlando, desired by all knights and for whom Orlando will literally go crazy. He will even fight against his own cousin Rinaldo, a scene that we painted in the "Lion of Saint Mark" Canvas.This is a gouache painting, made exclusively for our Paladins collection (see Related Products below). Angelica is not so much a woman as an ideal, which is why she exists only as a destination that fades away, as a dream that fades, a mirage, an obsession for the many Christian and pagan knights who clash in these poems. But we are in the Renaissance and both authors Boiardo and Ariosto are not so much concerned with sanctifying the exploits of the knights, as with also telling their weaknesses, their loss for love - the most necessary and painful of the traps in which man "en
