Thymus vulgaris These Winter German Thyme seedlings are available in 4 inch pots. In the Garden Grows best in zones 3 through 8. Full Sun. Dry to well-drained soil - does not need much moisture. This perennial grows into a small 1-foot-tall woody bush. Prune plant to 2 inches above the ground each fall. Clip leaves as needed after the plant is established. In the Apothecary Use an extract of fresh leaf in alcohol or a water infusion of dried or fresh leaves. This culinary herb supports the immune system.
