African Giant Marigold

These are a taller and bolder type of Marigold, Tagetes erecta, with plants growing 3-4' tall and producing abundant double (and some single) blooms.  These are a little longer season than some of the smaller marigolds. Therefore get these planted indoors, to get an earlier start, and then plant out after the last frost.  In the summer and fall you can enjoy the amazing fragrance, watch pollinators swarm the flowers,  add them to bouquets, or collect them and string them on garlands where they will dry beautifully.  Flowers can also be used as a dye.
