Beetle Jail Screened Bottom Board with Rear Trap
The Beetle Jail Screened Bottom Board with Rear Trap, mates to a Langstroth beehives. It has smaller screen (#12) than most screened bottom boards. This is to prevent so small hive beetles from entering through the bottom, but varroa mites will drop through. There is a white board under the screen that will catch mites, when coated with vegetable oil or no stick cooking spray. This will allow you to take a mite count. The white board may be removed to allow maximum ventilation and may be used in winter to reduce ventilation as desired. There is also a rear trap, across the back to catch small hive beetles. The beetles always go to the back corners of the hive. The rear trap has #7 screen with baffles, the ten frame bottom boards have (2) 2" deep 7 1/2" long oil reservoir/s.
