17th Century Spanish Colonial Gilt Silver Chalice Guatemala, Very Rare
We are offering... A very rare, 17th Century Silver Gilt Chalice, made in Guatemala. These Spanish Colonial silver pieces are very hard to come across and we have a beautiful example of an early one (most are in museums) . This chalice has beautiful decorations throughout, including a floral garland design on the knop on the stem. There is fluting from the base up as well. It is highly decorated entirely. The underside of the chalice has dates etched into it, 1689 and AD 1780. These might be previous owners guesses as to its age. It's definitely 17th century. Condition: Chalice is in very good original condition. Gilding is worn from handling and use. See photos for complete description. No apparent repairs. Approx.
