Black Armored Trapdoor Spider (Liphistius cf. jarujien/malayanus)
Black armored trapdoor spiders (Liphistius cf. jarujien/malayanus) are large species of trapdoor spider native to southeast Asia, they are relatively new to the hobby and still quite rare. These intimidating yet strikingly magnificent spiders are amongst the largest in the genus with adult females reportedly reaching up to 4" in legspan. Primitive spider enthusiasts shouldn't let these incredible spiders slip by! There isn't much care information available on this genus however they need deep enough substrate to construct their burrows and should be given a few pre-made "starter burrows" to choose from. It is also reported that having a clay component in their substrate may be beneficial for long-term success. Currently available specimens are field-collected imports that are approximately 1-3".
