Description The write stuff. This gift helps adults learn basic literacy and numeracy skills, opening up the opportunity for a brighter future. Adult literacy groups often support each other to get involved in other development activities in their community. How your gift helps This young woman is from Chitrakoot, India, and part of a Self-Help Group formed by TEAR’s partner EFICOR. Together with her group members she is learning how to read and write about practical issues including health and sanitation and life skills. Becoming literate has many benefits for these women. On an everyday level it means they are able to read government forms or help their children with homework. But it can also bring a new confidence and feeling of self-worth that is deep, long-lasting and impossible to measure. As well as literacy, the Self-Help Groups in this project also learn other practical skills including savings and bookkeeping. After a time of regular saving, they will be able to take a smal
