Chives

Allium Schoenoprasum Hardy Perennial / 2-3 year bloom If you're a CSA member with the Missoula Grain and Vegetable Farm, you may have received chives as an option in your food share. Guess what folks, these chive seeds also came from this same chive patch. They stopped harvesting chive greens to allow the beautiful purple flowers to set seed.  POLLINATORS LOVE THEIR FLOWERS. The easiest way I've found with a packet's worth of seed in early spring is... find (3 or 4) 4 inch starting pots. Fill pots with chemical free potting soil. Barely cover seed on surface with fine sand. Keep damp til they sprout. Plant before root bound. :) :)
