Plote and Prov Tables Set in Scagliola, Cement for Indoor or Outdoor by MTHARU
This listing is for the Plote and Prov tables set in cement and latex. The Plote end/side table is 19.5" diameter x 18" height and the Prov coffee table is 39.5" diameter x 14" height. The Plote table is the child of an extruded hexagon and a cone, and the Prov table was mathematically derived by fusing together an offset sphere and a cylinder. These tables are digitally generated through the manipulation of Photogrammetry algorithms. The fabrication of the tables happens through a post-digital process of digital and human making. The textures and patterns currently seen on the tables are through the appropriation of an ancient technique called scagliola whereby plaster would be used to mimic marble through the use of pigments and additives. In the case of our designs, we have used the scagliola technique with materials such as cement, latex, and basalt in order to define a new materiality, which is stronger and lighter. These designs can be created in any colourway. The end result is
