RIAA Gold album award for the debut self-titled album from Billy Idol, which was released on July 16, 1982. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on June 28, 1984 for 500,000 copies sold bringing Idol his first Gold record. Fresh off the breakup of his former group Generation X, Idol's solo debut produced the hits "Dancing with Myself", "Hot in the City", and "White Wedding", all of which received considerable radio and MTV airplay.
