RIAA Gold Award for Billy Idol album Greatest Hits. Released on Mar. 27, 2001, it was certified Gold by the RIAA for 500,000 copies sold on Jan. 16, 2002. This greatest hits release contained Idol's top hits "Rebel Yell" to "White Wedding" to "Mony Mony". It also includes Idol's version of "Don't You (Forget About Me)", which was actually written by Idol's longtime producer/songwriter Keith Forsey for Idol but ended up being first recorded (and made famous) by Simple Minds. The album reached #74 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and charted in several other countries as well. By 2005 it was certified Platinum by the RIAA for one million sold.
