Philadelphia Soundtrack Columbia Label Award
Label award for the soundtrack to the 1993 film Philadelphia. Released on Mar. 18, 1997, the soundtrack album contained tracks from numerous artists. Perhaps most notable was Bruce Springsteen's haunting contribution "Streets Of Philadelphia" which garnered much radio and MTV airplay after debuting in the film. It also won Springsteen the Academy Award for Best Original Song that year. Other tracks were contributed by artists including Peter Gabriel, Indigo Girls, Sade, Spin Doctors, Neil Young and others. The album earned a Platinum certification from the RIAA for one million sold along with many other sales certifications in other music markets around the world, as indicated on the plaque.
