RIAA Gold Album award for the Smashing Pumpkins album Gish. It was released on May 24, 1991 and by Mar. 14, 1994 was certified Gold by the RIAA for 500,000 copies sold. Rare early Pumpkins award. The debut from the Chicago group, already displaying the group's alternative psychedelic sound, slowly rose to prominence after topping the CMJ (College Music Journal) chart. It became one of the best-selling independent albums (on Caroline), and was later re-released on Virgin records. Notable tracks included "Siva", "I Am One", and "Rhinoceros".
