Swedish herring in mustard sauce. Classic holiday tradition.  The Swedish pop group ABBA's name is an acronym of their first names, but it was already in use by a fish cannery. The group's manager contacted the company to confirm that they could use the name, but in exchange, the group promised to never go into the fish business or embarrass the company. ABBA herring is a product of the Swedish seafood company Abba Seafood, which is known for its pickled herring and fish roe paste. Pickled herring is a traditional Swedish food that's eaten year-round, especially at holidays like Christmas, Easter, and Midsummer. It's often served as an appetizer or part of a larger meal, and can be found on a classic Swedish smorgasbord.
