Vicia faba. Collected in 1994 from a farmer at Ojito, south of the Spanish village of Chamisal, NM. The green and tan seeds are up to 3/4" long and 1/2" wide. The family prepared fresh favas by soaking in water for 3 days (changing water daily) and then peeling the individual beans and deep frying. Productive in our recent winter growout. From our Seed Bank Collection. Origin: high desert, about 7500' elevation Plant in fall or late winter in the low desert, or early spring at higher elevations. Favas are cold tolerant plants. Approx. 15g/15 seeds per packet. Limit 3 packets.
