Truchas Habas

Vicia faba. From the Spanish village of Truchas (trout) at 8000' in northern New Mexico, this is a typical northern NM fava. Traditionally irrigated from the Rio de Truchas.  Green and tan seeds.  Pick when young for fresh shelling, or use as dry bean when seed is allowed to fully mature. Excellent for soups or hummus.  From our Seed Bank Collection. Origin: High desert, but performs well in low desert winters Light green seeds borne on 2 to 3 foot plants. Can tolerate temps down to 20° F.  Approx. 16g/15 seeds per packet. Limit 3 packets
