When we open up our beehives after a long, cold winter, we are overwhelmed with aromas of honey & propolis. Honey bees emerge and find some of their first forage of the season with cottonwood leaf buds. The resin that protects the buds from moisture and cold is used by the bees to make propolis to seal and protect their hives.
