FIRST STEPS

Title: First Steps   Location: Namibia   This is by far one of the most memorable highlights of my wildlife photography and filmmaking career. For three weeks, I went to visit this Wild Dog den site every morning before sunrise and every evening at sunset in high hopes to see the packs new born puppies emerge from the den. We weren’t exactly sure when they were born, but generally it takes the puppies about 2weeks of feeding on milk in the den before they emerge into the world.   So going of the estimate that they were born a few days before my arrival, the only way to make sure I was there when they came out and meet the rest of the pack, was to be there every single day no matter what.   Finally, after 19 days of visiting the den site the moment came. The pack had just returned from a successful hunt and doing their usual routine of being extremely sociable, communicating and chasing each other.
