FOREST ELEPHANT

Title: Forest Elephant   Location: Liwonde, Malawi   This is such a unique moment to have witnessed and captured. I wasn’t on the lookout for elephants, I was trying to track down a leopard I knew was moving through the forest. I could hear the alarm calls in the forest, however there was no way of entering the mopani with the vehicle, as it was too thick. As we were driving there was a small gap that appeared and right down the middle of the opening was this beautiful elephant dusting itself with the grey dust of the earth. The air was still quite cool, leaving the dust hovering over the elephant. I am so used to seeing elephants in open areas or in the thick bush, but hardly ever have the opportunity seeing them in the forest where the canopy is closed above them. This is one of the reasons I would recommend people to visit Liwonde National Park, because it has multiple different environment you can see various different species in.
