HIGH GROUND

Title:  High Ground   Location: Erindi, Namibia   We heard the Guinea fowls alarm calling, they were going crazy. The first signal that there is something disturbing them, a predator. We started moving in the direction of the alarm calls. Now far offroad, we were getting closer to the commotion. We stopped, switched off the engine of the vehicle and sat still while listening. Then we spotted her, a female leopard moving through he tall blonde grass, and when I say we spotted her we only saw the tip of her tail. We started following her but quickly lost her and then she jumped up onto a tree that was pushed over by the elephants. Taking higher ground to survey her area for potential prey, she struck a power pose, giving us a clear view of how strong and healthy she was.   I truly love the wild cats of Africa, and leopards are easily some of my favourite to photograph.
