Pacific Mail Line: A fold-out sixteen-page fleet and destination brochure for Pacific Mail's service to Hawaii and the Far East with wonderful cover graphics. Although undated, it is from around 1905. Once the dominant line on the Pacific, the company is all but forgotten today. This brochure provides an excellent glimpse into what once was. The fleet consisted of the SIBERIA and KOREA of 1902-03, and two ships bought from Atlantic Transport while still on the ways, the MONGOLIA and MANCHURIA of 1904, and the dowager CHINA of 1889. Included with destination photos are vignettes of the ships. There's a portrait of the SIBERIA, a view of the MANCHURIA docked at Honolulu, plus shipboard views of the "bathing tank", men in long bathing costumes about to jump into the tank, ladies in long dresses playing deck tennis on the Promenade Deck, well groomed officers on using a sextant, and spiffy gents casually taking in the air.
