Chandris Lines: What to do with four old ocean liners when their immigrant trade is drying up? Promote them for around-the-world cruises, of course! In this twenty-eight page deluxe brochure from 1972, Chandris walks prospective passengers through day-by-day activities aboard their one-class ships. A rosy-checked model is the guide, but of course the ships are the stars. There are the company flagship AUSTRALIS (ex-AMERICA of 1940), the popular BRITANIS and ELLINIS (former Matson liners MONTEREY of 1932 and LURLINE of 1933), plus the PATRAS (ex-BLOEMFONTEIN CASTLE of 1950). Glimpses from the ships fill the pages. The former Matson liners' Lanai Suites are easily identifiable but other shipboard views are harder to figure out. A mist-bound BRITANIS fills two pages while a glittering night time view shows off raked sampan funnels that could only be those on the AUSTRALIS.
