The original games, set in Tiberium, are rooted in science-fiction, while the Red Alert games take place on an alternate-history Earth and the Generals games are set in the near future. Archivists might also note that Westwood Studios was acquired from Virgin Interactive by publisher Electronic Arts in 1998. The studio was eventually closed, in 2003. The EA Pacific studio is credited as the developer of this collection's Generals games. Although the series eventually moved to 3D, most included games feature a 2D, isometric perspective.
