Buffalo Haze
This vibrant watercolor painting print depicts a stunning scene in Yellowstone National Park. The painting took approximately 125 hours to complete and is watercolor on paper, measuring 24" x 18". I traveled to Yellowstone in 2018 and captured amazing photography, which inspired my current painting collection, American West: Summer. The collection features intensely beautiful, yet calm landscape scenes from my time out west. This particular scene, called Buffalo Haze, portrays six buffalo on a hillside in Yellowstone National Park on a foggy, hazy morning. The buffalo herd is beginning to shift right--with some already "moving" and some standing still. What inspired me the most in this scene is the contrasting textures between the rough, sage foliage and the soft, misty gray fog, which were perfectly complemented with the brown-toned buffalo. I worked in many, many layers of soft shades of purple, orange, green and blue throughout the painting to give it brilliant color and continuity.
