Surprise Sand Wash Basin Gelding's Story: “…he trots the air. The earth sings when he touches it. The basest horn of his hoof is more musical than the pipe of Hermes.” Henry V 3.7.16-18 This dynamic bay was recently adopted by an anonymous horse lover who is brand new to the world of mustangs. She first came to know about BLM auctions after visiting Return to Freedom last summer and listening to a wild horse photographer explain some of the politics surrounding the federal government’s mismanagement of the nation’s wild mustangs. Incensed, but with some trepidation and a fair amount of self-doubt and a little smidge of crazy, she chanced upon this gelding, aged at 18 during the October Canon City auction. The photographer advised her that if she really wanted to help, she should choose a horse that was 11 and over.
