VINTAGE ADIRE ALABERE

Adire Alabere is a style of Nigerian indigo textiles crafted with complex designs of symbolic patterns. The fine-lined effect of this stunning piece was created by stitching the fabric by hand before submerging the textile in indigo dye. Once the fabric had dried, the thread was removed with a blade and beaten with a mallet over a flat surface, to flatten the threaded areas, and create a sheen.
