Born in British colonial India, Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895–1986) was being groomed as a spiritual messiah by the Theosophical Society when he famously renounced that role, declaring that “truth is a pathless land.” Afterwards, Krishnamurti travelled the world as a philosopher and speaker urging people to observe their own minds and conditioning to find truth.
