The print was designed and printed by Be Oakley for Sylvia Rivera's speech on June 24, 1973, at the Gay Pride Rally at Washington Square Park, NYC. This poster is designed using our Street Transvestites Action Revolutionaries font, a font made from the hand lettering of a banner held by Sylvia Rivera. "As a trans-Latina, Sylvia Rivera was an outlier among white gay men and lesbian feminists. In 1970, she cofounded the militant group and youth shelter STAR (Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries) with African American trans activist Marsha P. Johnson (1945-–1992)), providing vulnerable and homeless trans teenagers with food and clothing." https://womenshistory.si.edu/herstory/object/sylvia-rivera $5 from each print is invested in For The Gworls.
