Vanda coerulea is one of the most amazing Vanda species from India, Burma and Thailand, and most likely one of the closest colors in an orchid to true blue! This is an exceptional cross with deep purple/blue 4" to 6" tessellated flowers with a light blue background. The color appears whitish when the buds first open, intensifying to a rich blue/indigo color within 7 to 10 days and can last for couple months in cooler weather. Vanda coerulea is a very important parent to make large blue purple Vanda such as V. Pakchong Blue, V. Kultana Blue... It has several long-lasting fragrant flowers. Many people grow them successfully outdoors in a cool area. You can grow it in a 4" basket, bare root if you have high humidity and water daily. You can also plant it in a 5" basket with moss or a clay pot with extra large New Zealand bark, this will keep moisture around the roots so you don't have to water every day. Pot size: Medium plant in 4" basket Color(s): Blue, purple tessellatedBloom: Bloomi
