4L60E Automatic Transmission This manual includes the teardown and rebuild of an automatic 4L60E/4L60/700R4. It is not meant to take the place of a good mechanic, but it is to help everyone understand that this is doable, and you don't need a transmission shop. This rebuild could cost more than $1000.00  The same procedure that will be discussed can be used for a 700R4, 4L60, 4L60E, and from whatI understand a 4L65E. They may look a little different because some of the later 4L60Es and 4L65Es haveremovable bell housings, the internals are the same.
