Hike Barefoot With Everyone at Brookhaven State Park (June 1 2025)
Updated Feb 2025. Created May 2020. The intention for this hike is to celebrate diversity. LBGT+, African American, Latino, Asian, Disabled, Foreign-born, whatever you identify as, you're welcome on this hike. Why barefoot tho? First, going barefoot is optional. Second, remember when you were a little kid and always walked around barefoot? Your back yard, your bedroom, everywhere? As an adult, you still love it - on beaches, in hotels, still in your bedroom. If you haven't hiked barefoot, you're missing one of life's small pleasures. But more importantly, the more connected you are from the earth (without heavy, thick-soled shoes, etc), the more respect you have for her and all other living things. And nothing teaches you more about respecting our planet (and each other) than walking on it the way you were intended, the way you were born to walk.
