"Rear View MacMonnies Fountain." This is an original 1895 print, by photographer William H. Jackson, of MacMonnies Fountain at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. Period Paper is pleased to offer a group of images of the 1893 World Columbian Exposition, also known as the Chicago World's Fair, which are perhaps the most coveted of all the photographic images of this fair. In the words of Stanley Wood "its beauty and its grandeur have been preserved for us by the magic of the camera...and in the reproductions of those wondrous scenes...the White City lives again." These magnificent original large format prints were created from the original photographs taken by famous western photographer, William H. Jackson. Photographic images reproduced at this size were extremely rare in the 1890's, and each of these images was printed in 1895 on heavy stock with a cream border and a blank verso.
