This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of Russian forces marching through a snowy landscape, the Cossack cavalry in a town on the Russian border, and Russian men walking on the railroad with their guns resting against their shoulders. The caption for the latter writes, "Russian troops on the march to relieve their comrades besieged in a city on the Galician border. The time is spring and the railroad has been chosen as the line of march because of the muddy condition of the roads on either side, which had become veritable quagmires."
