This is an original 1943 photogravure of the Temple of Athena Nike on the Acropolis of Athens, Greece. According to myth, Athena, the goddess of warfare, was born by bursting from her father, Zeus' head. The friezes on all sides of the structure were decorated with relief sculptures that depict monumental events. The photographer for this image is Martin Hürlimann.
