But as Rodney Dangerfield famously said, it gets no respect. The aligoté of yesteryear was a "throwaway" wine, usually diluted and showing merely fruit and acidity, without character. That is why it is famously blended with crème de cassis for a kir. Like Chardonnay, Aligoté is a very transparent variety, showcasing its terroir and even vinification style. Aligoté has gained in popularity in recent years, and some of the top producers of Burgundy make serious, complex Aligoté. So it is time to gave it a chance to shine.In that spirit, on Saturday, July 19, we welcome you to stop by and taste a range of Aligoté wines from several great producers.
