Trediberri was founded in 2007 as a partnership of three men: Nicola Oberto; Nicola’s father, Federico; and the Torinese banker Vladimiro Rambaldi. Federico contributed prime family holdings in Torriglione and the renowned Rocche dell’Annunziata, and the three jointly purchased five hectares in La Morra’s historic Berri MGA. Nicola runs the estate today with Stefania Drocco, and the project is named after the three partners and their common purchase: Tre-di-Berri, meaning “three of Berri.”
“Berri” is blended from hand-harvested Nebbiolo grown in estate parcels in La Morra, at 250 to 270 meters above sea level, primarily from the Berri MGA. Fermentation and maceration occur in concrete and last for about three weeks combined. Malolactic conversion is carried out in oak. The wine is aged in traditional 25- and 52-hectoliter Garbellotto botti (wooden barrels) for about 20 months before bottling, then rests in concrete before being bottled in April or May of the year before release.
