Lawrence is a college town that punches well above its weight culturally, and Cadillac Ranch was part of the reason why. A bar and music venue that drew acts you wouldn't expect to find in eastern Kansas and served the University of Kansas crowd and the locals with equal enthusiasm. Lawrence has always been a little out of place in Kansas in the best possible way, and Cadillac Ranch fit right in. It's closed now, which also fits — the good ones always seem to go first.
