R Place opened on Capitol Hill in 1984 and ran for nearly four decades as one of Seattle's most important gay bars and nightclubs - three floors, a rooftop deck, drag cabaret, and a reputation as a sanctuary for people of color in the community. It didn't close because it failed. It closed because the property owner died and the estate didn't renew the lease. That's how it ends sometimes - not with a whimper, not with declining crowds, just a lease that didn't get signed. Capitol Hill has been working out how to absorb that loss ever since. A Pickled Eggs Co tribute to R Place, Seattle's landmark closed gay bar and nightclub on Capitol Hill. Graphic t-shirt, classic fit.
