The Cotehardie was a standard article of clothing through most of the Middle Ages.  The design in this pattern allows it to be made with either a front or back closure. Historically, the dress was generally laced up with eyelets or rings, but the option for a snap closure included for easier construction and dressing.  It features four godets that give the dress a nice feminine flare.  Sleeves can be cut long or short.  The bottom edges of the dress and sleeves can be hemmed or bound. Cotehardies could be worn individually or layered for added warmth. This pattern is for the Cotehardie Dress only. Complete the outfit with A Medieval Chemise.
