The board is made out of bamboo, laser engraved with a polygonal texture to compliment the look of the chess pieces and finished with a satin top coat. Pieces are hand casted in resin or 3D printed and weighted. They have a smooth finish, easy to hold. Why bamboo? Bamboo is a super fast growing and a naturally renewable tree-like grass. It requires little maintenance to farm as it doesn’t need any pesticides or herbicides and very little water to grow. This new material is one of the first materials we chose to make PLA Concept more sustainable.
