(aka: Abutilon from Long Island) Abutilon 'Marion Stewart' is a 1999 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction of a seedling that was a gift from plantman Darrin Dulling via Marion Stewart, who grew this hardy flowering maple in her Long Island garden. In late spring, the green stems, clothed with hand-sized maple-like leaves, rise steadily to 7'. Late summer through fall, the clumps are adorned with 1.5" wide orange bells with dramatic red veining...like your eyes after a long night of QVC. Warm summers are necessary for good hardiness...don't cut stems back until spring!
