“Bisan from Gaza” - 12” embroidery hoop

When I saw the video of Bisan flying a Palestinian kite in Rafah, saw her smiling deeply for the first time in months, I knew I wanted to capture the moment.  This one of a kind piece of art also serves as a prayer and a whispered hope that one day, Bisan will not have to begin her videos with, “This is Bisan from Gaza. I’m still alive.”  This 12” hand stitched embroidery hoop is stitched on upcycled fabric originally used for another project. It is backed with the most gorgeous, vintage, upcycled, fabric and bears my hand stitched signature.  100% of the proceeds for this hoop will benefit UNRWA for their humanitarian work on the ground in Gaza.
