Amy

This painting is a tribute to the late great Amy Winehouse. She was a Grammy award winning singer/song writer active from 2002-2011. Her roots in jazz and hip-hop paired with her voice and the soul she put on every track is honestly just perfection to a hip-hop head like myself. I've been a fan since her "Back to Black" album then discovering her earlier "Frank" album which was also fire. I remember being blown away by her range, her A1 lyrics and how she performed every song differently live. My favorite songs are cherry, stronger than me, and he can only hold her. Another reason I did this portrait is to shed some light on the unfortunate circumstances that led to her passing. Me being a recovering addict myself I use her and other's stories as a reminder that no matter how much success one achieves if we don't keep the right people places and things in our lives any one of us can lose our way. But I thank you Amy for your contributions and the endless amount of jams you gave us. A
