Renee Audebes (b.1921). A French Mid-Century abstract painter widely exhibited in France and abroad, but most notably in Paris. Audebes studied under Jean Metzinger in Paris and was initially influenced by Surrealism. He later became a significant member of the post-war abstract movement in Paris. Of highlight is Audebes residency as a Professor at the Academie Frochot in Paris - host to a long line of well known artists. Audebe's work is a listed artist and frequently realized in auction houses today. This beautiful piece is a wonderful example of mid-century abstraction in Europe. This oil paint  on paper has a rich surface and textural impasto technique. The reverse  is signed and dated by the artist. There is another in-progress sketch/painting which is equally as fascinating!  This piece comes ready-to-frame with a 3" custom archival mat and acid-free backing.
