Artisan distillation 100% from the agave espadín. The French Tronçais oak used for the añejo lends a lovely softness. The finish is graceful and long. Founded in 1998 by Jaime and Gustavo Muñoz to supply their wonderful Oaxacan restaurant with an authentic local spirit. They refurbished an old distillery in Santiago Matatlan, the epicenter of artisan mezcal distillation. Los Nahuales mezcal is made in small old-fashioned double-distillation pot stills. Mezcals from the agave espadín are full-flavored and sweet. The Los Nahuales roasting pit is fired with mesquite, adding a smoky richness.
