A revolutionary paper specially formulated for oil painting. 58A Oil Painting Paper (Arches Oil) is a 140 lb cold press, acid free paper produced in Eastern France that has a beautiful pebbled surface specially formulated for oil paint. This paper is made on a cylinder mould, a process that combines the consistent quality of a machine made paper with the individual character and organic texture of a handmade paper.Due to its internal sizing, the paper needs no preparation. Additional layers of acrylic gesso or oil ground can be used to reduce tooth or brush drag. The powerful oil barrier evenly absorbs water, solvents and binders while pigments remain on the surface for fast drying time and excellent color rendering.
